As you lay next to me I wonder
I ponder whether God crafted you from the bone of my bone, the flesh of my flesh
I wonder whether your flaws were so matched with mine that my heart claims a peace when you are near
You are my younger selfs wildest dream
A figment of my imagination that God saw fit to bring forth.
Rising from the ashes of false hope and mirages of things
Of men seeking only to devour
To take what benefits
Discarding what remains in their stead.
As I journey with you, I’ve come to understand why he speaks so much of love
Not love in the earthly sense
But love that transcends the brokenness of our current existence
A love that covers all, where pain does not destroy, where hurt is a temporary measure
You are a warm embrace,
A cool breeze on a summers day
An instrument of God’s peace.
A soul like none before you
